This department, which aims to cultivate excellent middle and high school chemistry teachers, develops basic concepts of chemistry, scientific thinking, problem-solving, and application skills through theory and experimental classes, as well as the ability to use scientific knowledge on computers. Through this process, we are doing our best to show creativity not only in teaching but also in various fields.
Due to the nature of the department, most of the bachelor's degrees have advanced to middle and high school teachers, but some are working as pure studies. In addition, in order to expand opportunities for continuous education for science teachers and lay the foundation for the development of chemical curriculum research, a general graduate school science education department (chemistry major) is established and operated.
Currently, four professors are employed in this department, and at the same time, they are actively engaged in research as researchers at the Science Education Research Institute and the Basic Science Research Institute.
The main equipment possessed by this department includes chemistry devices such as Surface Tension meter, UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, GC, HPLC, Computerized Conductivity Meter, Glove Box, PC Cluster, Solution Calorimeter, refractometer, etc., as well as various textbook research and secondary school chemistry experiment equipment.
Major high-priced chemistry equipment such as 700 MHz NMR, X-ray, and solution calorimeter are installed in the joint experiment center for professor research and advanced experiments at the department.
