The College of Nursing at Gyeongsang National University (GNU) has its roots in the beginning of public education for the training of medical personnel in Gyeongsangnam-do in 1926, at the beginning of modern nursing education in Korea. In 2021, Gyeongsang National University and Gyeongnam National University of Science and Technology, were integrated to stand at a new starting point as a national university of nursing in the southern region of Korea.

With the vision "WISE (WORLDWIDE, INITIATIVE, SCIENTIFIC, EMPATHETIC) Nursing" based on human respect, we train professional nurses with the core competencies required to maintain and promote optimal health for nursing subjects and nurture nursing leaders to contribute to health for the people.

Our college consists of a bachelor's degree course, a master's degree course, an integrated master's and doctoral course, and a doctoral degree course. Graduates are trained as nurses, nursing educators, school nurses, public officials related to health care, and researchers with excellent capabilities in national and international fields. It boasts Korea's best history and tradition by producing three recipients of The Florence Nightingale Medal, the world's most prestigious nurse award.

In 2006, in the 1st Nursing Education Accreditation evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Education, it was judged as the best and excellent in all areas, such as curriculum, student guidance, professors, facilities, and administration. In 2015 and 2022, the approval of the Nursing Education Accreditation evaluation was achieved hosted by the Korean Accreditation Board of Nursing Education and the excellence of nursing education has been proven. Based on this excellence, we demonstrate the competitiveness of our college through a 100% pass rate in the national examination, a high employment rate, and various performances of our graduates in the nursing field.

As the saying goes, “Deep-rooted trees do not sway in the wind, so flowers are good and fruitful, and deep springs do not stop in drought, so they go to the sea to fulfill their purpose.” We will do our best to become a world-class nursing education institution while actively coping with the 4th industrial revolution, increase in the elderly population, and changes in the healthcare environment.
