Department of Food & Resource Economics

The Department of Food and Resource Economics is an applied study of economics, which understands and analyzes the social and economic phenomena of the primary industries, agriculture, and the food industries that use raw materials and materials made here. Our department focuses on developing the ability to explain, deduce and predict social phenomena in food and related markets based on economic theory. To do this, students will be trained in the theories and applications of economics, and in the studies of mathematics, statistics, and the econometrics that support it.

In the past, agriculture economics was introduced and taught only in areas related to agriculture, such as production, management, distribution, and policies related to agriculture. Recently, however, national and social interest has gone beyond agricultural products to food and related industries. As interest and role in such studies have increased, the scope of studies is expanding to include food, consumption, international trade and trade, economic development, regional economy, and environmental issues.

Our department offers a variety of courses to commensurate the social expectations and the diverse academic needs of students.
