 As the largest national university in Gyeongsangnam-do located in Jinju, the hometown of dance, the Department of Folk Art and Dance at Gyeongsang National University is the first specialized department in Korea that was created ahead of the demands of today's educational society demanding specialization and specialization. The Department of Folk Art and Dance opens a new field of learning by incorporating specialized subjects of folklore into each major subject, as well as professional practical and theoretical education of Korean dance and modern dance for artistic orientation.

Unlike dance departments in general universities, this department places great importance on connectivity with universities that focus on overseas folk dance, which is related to the department's uniqueness, and also actively supports students' study abroad and training programs with great interest. Therefore, since 2005, we have implemented a dual degree system with Sichuan University in China, and applicants can obtain diplomas from Gyeongsang National University and Sichuan University in China at the same time.
