The Ocean, The Future
The Marine Bio-Education & Research Center [MBERC] was established at Gyeongsang National University [GNU] in Tongyeong, Korea in May 27, 2009. I hope that our efforts in cooperation with local autonomy government, regional industries, and some institutes in Gyeongnam Province will certainly make marine bio-industry as specialized and competitive industry in our region. Furthermore, the MBERC will play a key role in advancing marine bio-education for the nation’s key industry. The MBERC will research and develop mass-cultivation technologies for seaweeds and microalgae, production technologies of highly profitable, functional materials and medicinal substances for the treatment of such chronic or incurable diseases as dementia from marine bio-resources, and aquaculture technologies for useful marine fishes and shellfishes etc. The MBERC will, thus, contribute to the development and international competitiveness of anti-aging industry by performing these projects.
Finally we thank MOF [Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries], local autonomy government, related institutes, and local industries for giving positive aids to MBERC. We hope you will join us as we embark on new decade of discovery, and a meaningful journey to lead marine bio-industry in Korea into bright and productive future.
