Cultivating New Konwledge of World Culture and Ethnic culture

Welcome to the website of Gyeongsang National University's College of Humanities.

The birthplace of creative talent seeking tradition and innnovation

Nice to meet you.

Gyeongsang National University’s College of Humanities started in 1948 at the Gteongnam Provincial University of Beginner Jinju National University. and was promoted to a general university in 1979. Currently, the College of Humanities is composed of one undergraduate, nine departments and a graduate school course, including the Department of English Language and Literature (English literature major, English major), the Department of Korean Language and Literature, the Department of German Language and Literature, the Department of Russia studies, the Department of French Language and Literature, the Department of History, the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Chinese literature, and the Department of Folk Dance and Arts. In addition, we are pioneering new academic fields by operating "interdisciplinary cooperation courses" of graduate schools such as cultural contents departments, cultural convergence departments, and Overseas Regional Studies, and we are making efforts with pride and mission to establish ourselves as a mecca for humanities research along with social connection through the spread of the humanities.

In the 21st century, we are facing a global knowledge-based society that emphasizes convergence and integration in response to the emergence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution due to the advent of the Internet and the information revolution. To adapt to these societal changes, we are expanding coding practices, VR/AR experiences, and practical spaces to conduct innovative humanities education. Furthermore, we are continuously operating various related projects such as 'Engaging Humanities', 'GNU Citizen Humanities University', 'Humanities Cities', among others, to uphold the social role of literature and promote the dissemination of humanities. On the other hand, we are ensuring experiences of traditional culture through traditional relationships and ceremonial demonstrations, aiming to develop the moral qualities required for adults. Additionally, we are organizing various programs such as the 'GNU Humanities Debate Competition' to enhance logical thinking and problem-solving skills, contributing to the spread of humanities education.

We are committed to nurturing creative talents with a sense of justice and responsibility, encompassing both tradition and innovation. Through this commitment, we aim to support our graduates in playing pivotal roles as global talents in various fields.

Gyeongsang National University's College of Humanities is dedicated to cultivating creative and ethical leadership, along with imparting humanities knowledge to students as a foundation for preparing for the future. Our university supports students in facing challenges and seizing opportunities in the global era by enhancing their academic capabilities. We encourage collaboration in realizing our vision.

Thank you.
