On March 1, 2024, Gyeongsang National University (GNU), drawing upon the foundational work of the Department of Aerospace Engineering, inaugurated the College of Space and Aeronautics (CSA), the first college of aerospace engineering in South Korea. The creation of the college was a key part of the nationwide Glocal 30 University Project for which GNU was selected as a participant. In response to the evolving landscape of aerospace governance, such as the establishment of the Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) in 2024, and the rapid advancements in aerospace technology marked by developments like the KF-21, Naro launch vehicle, and Danuri lunar probe, we commit to nurturing more specialized aerospace engineering students to meet the demands of these changing times.
The College of Space and Aeronautics (KASA) aims to become a global TOP 10 and Asia's TOP 3 aerospace school by providing future-oriented education in cutting-edge technologies in aerospace, future mobility, and AI/big data. We are continuously striving to cultivate talented individuals from our local communities, to enhance and lead regional development, by providing innovative, industry-oriented curricula relevant to the space and defense industries.
In line with our mission of fostering global leaders in aerospace research, we have developed a variety of courses and programs led by the country's top educators in the aerospace field. Additionally, in collaboration with the Gyeongnam Aerospace and Defense Institute of Science and Technology (GADIST) and the BK21 Phase 4 Project, we have significantly expanded our collaborative network with leading international universities, including undergraduate-graduate school linkage programs that are active or in development with Cranfield University (United Kingdom), INSA-Toulouse (France), University of Mons (Belgium), and UCLA (USA).
To maximize the professional growth of our students in their postgraduate careers, we offer specialized programs unique to the College of Space and Aeronautics (CSA), such as the KAI (Korea Aerospace Industries, LTD.) track. All faculty and staff at Gyeongsang National University are committed to the responsibility of preparing our students to become competitive workers in their industries.
