Department of Plant Medicine is an exciting place to studyall aspects of plant diseases and insects. Students willbe able to study plant medical sciences, including plantpathology, applied entomology, weed science, and plantbiotechnology. The science of plant medicine deals with thenature, ecology, and control of plant pests (plant diseases, insects and weeds). The department is committed toconducting research and education on microorganisms, plant pathogens, insects, nematodes, and weeds, whichare major components of a natural ecosystem as wellas obstacles in crop production and food security. Thedepartment programs are designed to allow students tolearn for maximum intellectual development and trainingfor a multitude of future, from plant medical science, tobiotechnology industry, and to non-profit environmentalwork. The Plant Doctor (PD) Program is an intensive graduate-level program for students, who are interested in plant health andmanagement. The PD students often participate in applied research within laboratory programs, and may participate in publicationof peer-reviewed scientifi c and extension papers. In order to achieve successes in PD, the department offers great opportunities forstate-of-the-art research trainings in key areas of plant physiology, plant pathology and applied entomology. This is an exciting eva for biology – huge advances in molecular biology and biotechnology coupled with development in agricultureand biotechnology industry have made the 21st century. We invite you to join us in these exciting times of the Century of Biology
