    Environmental Materials Science Lab

  • This laboratory is conducting research based on environmental material studies, and continues research activities by comparing and analyzing the organizational characteristics of different woods according to species and species.

In particular, we are conducting research on mechanical properties such as bending strength performance, compressive strength performance, shear strength, and non-destructive strength performance of wood to identify the properties and characteristics of wood and to play a better role as it is used everywhere. In addition, recently, problems related to abnormal growth of lost trees are analyzed in terms of organizational structure, and ways to solve abnormal growth problems after comparing and evaluating the organizational structure according to the growth of sound and vegan developments.

    Forest Biomass Chemistry Lab

  • This laboratory mainly studies 1) bioenergy research using various biomass, 2) active ingredients of natural products, and 3) cultivation of mushroom bodies or mycelium, and specific ingredients. The field of bioenergy research deals with the field of bioenergy technology development using forest biomass as renewable energy. In particular, this laboratory focuses on pre-treatment technology, which is a key technology in the bioethanol production process using woody biomass. Research on natural products mainly conducts purification and structure identification of active ingredients from natural products, search for new secondary metabolites derived from natural products, standardize materials, and identify pharmacological efficacy of natural products. Research on mushroom bodies or myceliums performs optimization studies that maximize mushroom growth or maximize the content of certain ingredients in mushrooms.

Pulp and Paper New Materials Lab

  • Paper is one of the most familiar and widely used necessities in our daily life. Without paper, human cultural and industrial development would have been impossible, and our history might have been cut off. Paper is a material manufactured mainly using cellulose as a core and some lignin as a sub core, and is used for printing& writing, packaging, and various functional purposes. Currently, the domestic paper industry has leaped to become one of the world's six major papermaking countries, producing over 10 million tons of paper per year. The Pulp&Paper Adavanced Materials Lab. conducts various researches covering the paper industry from pulp to paper manufacturing and processing. Currently, the lab. is carrying out various researches such as the exploration of new raw materials for pulping, improvement of the papermaking process including the stock preparation, the localization of essential equipments for papermaking, the development of eco-friendly materials based on cellulose fibers, and the development of new and renewable energy fuels using lignocellulosic biomass. The lab. is nurturing key professionals who will lead the pulp&paper industry in Korea.

    Furniture Design Lab

  • In line with the trend of modern furniture design, the Furniture Design Laboratory focuses on modernization of traditional furniture that matches various modern rooms using the style and weaving technology of traditional furniture before industrialization in the mid-18th century.

    Eco-Hybrid Materials Science Lab

  •  The Eco Hybrid Materials Science Laboratory manufactures wood-based engineering wood and wood boards, and conducts various studies to improve and improve their physical and mechanical performance and functionality. In particular, the focus is on the development of new heterogeneous materials that combine wood and various eco-friendly heterogeneous materials, and the efficient use of wooden houses as structural and interior materials. In addition, it has recently been in the spotlight as an eco-friendly building material and a multi-story wooden house structure. We manufacture cross-laminated timers (CLTs) and conduct various studies on static, dynamic and creep performance to improve their physical and mechanical performance.

    Paper Nanoscience Lab

  • Recently, as interest in the global environment has increased around the world, demand for eco-friendly materials that can replace fossil fuel materials is increasing. In particular, as demand for core technologies and professionals related to new paper-based materials that are expected to replace plastic materials that are difficult to biodegrade is increasing, many efforts are required to meet this. In response to these demands, Gyeongsang National University's Paper Nanoscience Laboratory aims to cultivate professionals and contribute to the development of technology and industry in the field of pulp and paper by 1) manufacturing and applying eco-friendly high-quality and high-functional paper, 2) smart packaging materials, and 3) nanocellulose.
