Welcome to our school's website.

Our medical school opened in 1983, and this year (2023) marks the 40th anniversary of its opening. During that time, more than 2,800 doctors have been graduated and are actively practicing in the Gyeongnam region and nationwide. As a result of our faculty and students' collective dedication to the student education and learning, we have been achieving passing scores on the National Medical Examination for doctors that exceed the national average year after year, and we have been recognized as an excellent medical school both domestically and internationally by receiving four-year accreditation in 2018 and again in 2022 in the medical school evaluation certification conducted in accordance with international standards.

Under the mission of "pioneering doctors with courtesy, wisdom, and scholarship who contribute to the development of medicine and the improvement of human health," our university strives to educate students with the goal of fostering doctors who care for patients with a spirit of responsibility and service, as well as specialized medical knowledge and treatment capabilities. In January 2023, we completed the Pioneering Medical Complex, which is equipped with the latest facilities and equipment, including state-of-the-art classrooms, a medical practice center, PBL and OSCE labs, and a large auditorium.

With a solid position as the only medical school in the Gyeongnam region and a national university based in the country, our school attracts excellent students every year, and through the dedicated efforts of professors and other school members, a pleasant environment, and an effective educational process, all of them are becoming good doctors with ethical attitudes, advanced medical knowledge, and excellent skills.

In 1987, we opened Gyeongsang National University Hospital in Jinju, and in 2016, we opened Gyeongsang National University Hospital in Changwon, with 950 and 800 beds, respectively, to provide excellent tertiary-level care to local residents, and as a teaching hospital, we provide high-quality clinical training to medical students.

We have not neglected the research field either, attracting and operating large-scale projects such as the KIUM Research Center, BK21+, and the Medical Research Center (MRC), and conducting research, education, and development covering basic and clinical medicine through institutions such as the Health Science Research Institute, the Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Medical Sciences, and the Biomedical Research Institute.
