Gyeongsang National University
Department of Applied Life Chemistry
Department of Applied Life Chemistry has a twin objective: to develop technologies that address environmental issues using principles from life science and chemistry and to provide comprehensive training to future professionals in this field.
The department's primary focus is nurturing professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to sustainable agricultural industries. To achieve this, we offer courses covering carbon-neutral techniques to combat global warming and fundamental subjects in chemistry and life sciences.
Undergraduate students have the opportunity to gain specialized knowledge by engaging in a variety of coursework. These courses include organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, industrial microbiology, plant physiology, cell biology, soil science, fertilizer science, pesticide science, agricultural and environmental chemistry, environmental ecology restoration, instrumental analysis, and metabolic engineering. Additionally, undergraduate students can further develop their problem-solving skills and research capabilities by participating in the Undergraduate Research Project (URP).
Graduates from the Department of Applied Life Chemistry possess diverse career opportunities. These include positions in atmospheric and water quality management, biotechnology, the food industry, the cosmetics industry, and the pesticide and fertilizer industry. Furthermore, graduates can pursue graduate studies to become researchers and professors, expanding their knowledge and contributing to their respective fields.
