Welcome to the Department of Polymer Engineering at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Gyeongsang National University.
Established as the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering in 1987, it was integrated into the School of Materials Science and Engineering along with the Departments of Metallurgical and Ceramic Engineering in March 2007. Since then, it has been reorganized as the Department of Polymer Engineering. Currently, we have 8 full-time professors, 5 honorary professors, and 1 staff member who are dedicated to education and nurturing talents.
Our department strives to provide comprehensive education, from fundamental polymer technologies to practical applications required in various industries. Based on this foundation, we not only contribute to the polymer industry by producing petroleum-based materials, but also focus on educating and researching functional polymer materials needed in advanced convergence technologies, such as nanotechnology (NT), energy and environmental technology (ET), space and aerospace technology (ST), information and communication technology (IT), and biotechnology (BT). Over the years, our efforts have led to the growth of more than 2,000 alumni who have excelled in various industries, public institutions, and national research institutes. These endeavors will also serve as the cornerstone for nurturing key talents in the field of advanced materials during the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
Furthermore, through our undergraduate and graduate programs, particularly the Department of Nano and Advanced Materials Fusion Engineering, we have consistently put efforts into leading-edge education and research development. As a result, we have achieved various national projects, including the 4th Stage BK project and university-based research institutes, and have published world-class research papers. These accomplishments have solidified our position as a representative department of Gyeongsang National University's three core specialized areas.
In 2021, we have revamped our department's website to facilitate smooth communication among members and provide a wealth of information to those interested in our field. We hope that the updated website will be beneficial to our students, graduates, and anyone interested in the field of polymer engineering. We kindly request your continued interest and guidance for the future development of our department.
