Department of Semiconductor Engineering

The Department was founded in 1988 under the title of the Department of Electronic Material Engineering, and it produced its first graduates in 1992. In 1996, four related departments were consolidated into the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and its title was changed into the Major in Information Cell Engineering in 2005. It is closely related to industries that are expanding and specializing on a daily basis. In order to meet the growing demand for information technology experts, the Department of Semiconductor Engineering was newly established in 2010.

The next-generation industry is a synchronized industry of a combination of information technology (IT), nanotechnology (NT), biotechnology (BT) and environmental technology (ET). Semiconductor engineering is very much closely related to the above technologies. In this regard, the Department cultivates its students to acquire the knowledge about semiconductor material and device theory and semiconductor process through theory and practice to secure hardware as an engineer in the fields of electronic engineering, information and communication engineering, computer engineering, and materials engineering that are necessary to develop and design electronic information devices. The next generation of industrial talents with the acquired basic knowledge is being fostered.

The Department offers two combined majors in “Electric Power Energy Engineering” and “Elevator Safety Engineering” through a curriculum agreement with Korea South-East Power Company and Korea Elevator Safety Agency.
