Research and Experimental Farm

Research and Experimental Farm

The research and experimental farms were founded in 1948, the same year that the college was founded. Presently, three farm fields are used for research and field works projects.

Resaerch and Experimental Farm

The Gajwa farm, located on the main campus, is relatively small (26,893㎡), used mostly for small scale research projects, and has 12 greenhouses (4,848㎡). In contrast, the Daegok farm (92,512㎡) and the Sacheon farm (48,373㎡), which are located about 20km and 12km away from the main campus, respectively, are used mainly for student education and crop production.

Those farms have modern facilities and experimental equipment necessary for research and the education of the students. All activities are planned and operated by a farm directorand eight supporting staff members.

Livestock Farm

Livestock Farm

The livestock farm located in Geumsan, Jinju-si possesses various species of animals, including dairy cattle, Korean native cattle, Korean native goats, and sheep on a 277,264㎡ plot of land. The farm is used for research by professors, and for education and practice by students. It is also used to increase animal production and supply using newly-developed techniques in the industry.

Experimental Forest

Experimental Forest

These activities lead to the field of forestry education for the local residents. The experiment forest also aims to contribute to the development of the national economy by increasing the productivity of cultivated forest resources and land conservation.

Resaerch and Experimental Farm

The research forest includes locations in Sancheong (Jirisan),Namhai, Gajwa, Goseong, Masan, and Hadong. With the inclusion of the Jinseong Experimental Forest and Won-ri Nursery Field, the research forest’s total area of about 2,152 ha. The research forest implements the experiments and academic research of the Division of Environmental Forest Science and other departments.

It serves as a field for the practical training of environmental forest science for students to put theory into academic practice, and the research forest is also used for the education of local residents. This facility closely examines the development and dissemination of suitable species, forestry production technologies, and forest management methods.

These activities lead to the field of forestry education for the local residents. The experiment forest also aims to contribute to the development of the national economy by increasing the productivity of cultivated forest resources and land conservation.

The research forest plans to create profits and promote the university by selling its by-products, and also maximize the versatility and value of forests by creating a beautiful natural environment, various education trainingprograms, and research facilities.

The Agricultural Science Education Center (ASEC) was founded on December 10, 2010 as an educational institute affiliated with the College of Agriculture & Sciences.

Resaerch and Experimental Farm

ASEC contributes to the development of the country and community by establishing a cooperative system of schools, industries, and related ministries to secure agricultural competitiveness and actively respond to the internationalization of agriculture.

ASEC has been providing rural and agricultural education through various classes, including the CEO Training Course for Women Farmers, Farmers Academy, Agricultural education for migrant women. Currently, ASEC operates curriculum of the ‘Advanced Agricultural Management Course’ and the ‘training course for Agro-healing expert’.

Advanced Agricultural Management Course

This course is a professional agricultural education program operated with the support of Gyeongsangnam-do to foster agricultural professionals who lead the scientificization of agriculture. Since 1994, it has improved the competitiveness of agriculture in response to the era of openness and information, and has cultivated farmers’ specialized agricultural skills and management skills. It teaches basic agriculture knowledge such as the rural economy and agricultural management as well as theory and practice of advanced agricultural technology and advanced production technology. Farmers will grow into agricultural managers who can take the lead in increasing farm income and producing internationally competitive agricultural products by applying high-tech and farm management knowledge acquired in the Advanced Agricultural Management Course. In addition, continuous technical, administrative and financial support can be obtained through mutual ties with experts in each field.

Training co urse for Agro-healing specialist

The training course for Agro-healing specialist is a training course to foster Agro-healing expert who can maintain, restore, and promote the health of people by utilizing agriculture and rural resources. Agro-healing refers to designing and carrying out healing programs to restore and promote the physical, cognitive, psychological, and social health of people using agriculture and rural resources. Agro-healing refers to designing and implementing healing programs to restore and improve the physical, cognitive, psychological, and social health of people using agricultural and rural resources. Gyeongsang National University was assigned as the first institution in Gyeongsangnam-do to foster experts in Agro-healing in 2022. In order to take the examination to get the national license for 「Agro-healing specialist」, you must complete this course. Gyeongsang National University produces 40 Agro-healing experts annually through this course.
