Wastewater microbiology covers the overall fields of microbial metabolism and growth, public health microorganisms, wastewater and water treatment microorganisms, conversion and toxic effects of compounds in wastewater treatment processes, and microbiological aspects in wastewater treatment and recycling.
◎ Laboratory for Environmental Microbiology Analysis
Numerous microorganisms exist in the natural world (land, sea, river, lake, etc.). With the increase of population and the development of industry, global environmental pollution is emerging as a major problem worldwide. In this course, as a basic step for the biological purification of environmental pollutants, we intend to learn the basic knowledge for handling microorganisms, such as the separation and culture of microorganisms, and basic techniques for handling these microorganisms.
◎ Water Quality Management
This lecture enables students to understand water pollution sources and pollutant load estimation, and discusses engineering and planning methods for effective water quality management.
◎ Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Engineering(1)
This lecture enables students to improve their ability for physical and chemical treatment and unit processes as well as to prepare a master plan for sewage and wastewater treatment facilities.
◎ Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Engineering(2)
This lecture enables students to improve their ability for biological and advanced treatment and unit processes as well as to prepare a master plan for sewage and wastewater treatment facilities.
◎ Advanced Wastewater Treatment
This lecture discusses influence factors and treatment efficiency enhancement involved in advanced wastewater treatment and non-point source pollutant treatment facilities.
◎ Sewage and Wastewater Treatment Design
This lecture is intended to understand not only the design of sewage and wastewater treatment facilities, but also the main processes involved in various treatment facilities.
◎ Environmental Geospatial Analysis
This lecture provides basic spatial analysis and its advanced applications, in addition to the core concepts of spatial information, using an open source software QGIS.
◎ Environmental Modeling
This lecture provides a series of methods and tools used to identify, assess, and predict the impacts of pollution activities on different environmental media such as air, water, and soil.
◎ Hydraulics
This lecture introduces the basic knowledge and relevant governing equations associated with hydraulic modeling of flow in pipes and open channels.

This lecture provides the theoretical knowledge and practical skills used to analyze various types of environmental monitoring data efficiently using an open source statistical software R.
◎ Soil Pollution Management
This lecture introduces the fate and transport processes of soil pollutants and soil management strategies to control and lower pollution levels.
◎ Introduction to Air Pollution
Air pollution causes various pollution phenomena such as damage to human health, climate change, acid rain, and ozone layer destruction. To solve air pollution problems, understand the role of the atmosphere, characteristics of particulate and gaseous air pollutants, sources, and behavioral characteristics in the air, and learn about various air pollution management policies.
◎ Micrometeorology
Micrometeorology refers to meteorological conditions on a microscopic scale that occur within about 1 km of the Earth's surface. In environmental engineering, micrometeorology is an important field to analyze various environmental pollution that has a great impact on industry and living environment. Recent climate change has a significant impact on the living environment and ecosystem, and is interpreted as meteorological characteristics.
◎ Air Pollution Control Engineering
Air pollution control engineering is a technology to control the emission of air pollutants from an air emission source in an engineering manner. In this course, we learn the principles and characteristics of various dust collectors that control particulate pollutants using gravity, centrifugal force, wet cleaning, filtration, and electric force.
◎ Environmental Laws
Environmental law refers to various laws to protect the environment. Constitution stipulates both the protection of the people's environmental rights and the obligation to preserve the environment. In this course, students learn various regulatory laws such as the Framework Act on Environmental Policy, Environmental Impact Assessment, Natural Environment, Air Environment, Water Quality, Waste, and Hazardous Chemicals.
◎ Air Pollution Control Design and Practice
In order to efficiently carry out air environment work, design and review factors for air pollution emission and prevention facilities, and field operation practices based on air-related laws and regulations are studied. In this course, you will also learn about air pollutant emission calculation, licensing, and administrative rules.
