The College of Marine Science at Gyeongsang National University is the birthplace of the Tongyeong-based Marine Fisheries School. Since its opening in 1917, the college has trained more than 18,911 talented people in the field of marine fisheries specialization.
Our university consists of 1,036 students, 98 graduate students, 60 professors, and 86 staff members in 11 departments (Department of Marine Fisheries Management, Department of Marine Police and Production System, Department of Aquaculture and Life Sciences, Department of Marine Food Engineering, Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, Department of Smart Automation Engineering, Department of Intelligent Communication Engineering, Department of Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, Department of Marine Civil Engineering, Department of Marine Environment Engineering, and Department of Future Industry Convergence). In addition, there are 10 affiliated facilities such as the Marine Science Library, Marine Biology Education Research Center, and Training Ship Operation and Management Center to better support student education and faculty research, and amenities such as a book cafe and marine fitness center for students and staff.
The College of Marine Science at Gyeongsang National University, the only national university in the Gyeongnam region specializing in marine and fisheries, has received more than KRW 29.15 billion in research grants over the past five years, and 30 young professors with excellent research capabilities have been appointed to lead education, research and thesis performance, and student employment in the marine specialization field.
In particular, we are leaping forward as a smart marine science university leading the era of the 4th industrial revolution by conducting convergence and integration research utilizing artificial intelligence, CPS (Cyber Physical System), IoT, and big data in the marine and fisheries industry.
Based on respect and love for students, the College of Marine Science at Gyeongsang National University, will practice sustainable education with new changes and future values and contribute to national development by fulfilling all responsibilities to become a mecca for fostering convergent smart marine fisheries talents in the marine fisheries field.
