Long-term development plan

1. Background of Long-term development plan

1. Korean Language Education Division History and Current Status

The Department of Korean Language Education at Gyeongsang National University is a department that trains Korean language teachers with sound personality and a sense of mission. Since its inception in 1972, the department has conducted research on Korean language education in order to train such teachers, and has played a leading role in Korean language education in Korea by publishing books such as "Theory of Korean Language Education" by Professor Ryo Yong-dong, "Basic Concepts of Korean Language Education" by Professor Lee Jung-ju, and "The Road to Korean Language Education" by Professor Kim Jung-won. In addition, under the supervision of this department, he created the Society for Delivery Language Education (the first name of the Society for Mother Language Education) and has been conducting full-fledged research on Korean language education with various scholars across the country. The department's research on Korean language education has greatly contributed to the development of Korean language pedagogy in Korea.

In addition to researching Korean language education, we have also made efforts to cultivate excellent Korean language teachers. The department's emphasis on teacher training was that Korean language education should be "student-centered." Still, there are many teachers who practice teacher-centered education among Korean language educators in our educational field. However, true Korean language education consists in making students have the ability to use the Korean language, to develop their own knowledge of the Korean language, and to cultivate the ability to appreciate Korean literature well. Therefore, it is only natural that Korean language education should be student-centered. Since education has been carried out based on the fundamental spirit of Korean language education, Korean language teachers who have graduated from this department are carrying out on-the-job training with a sense of mission and pride.

Now, this department will further develop the teacher training methods that it has done so far and strive to become the best Korean language education department in the country. To this end, the educational objectives of this department will be further sharpened.
