Welcome to the website of the Department of Seafood Science and Technology, Gyeongsang National University.


This department was established in 1917, the first educational institution in the field of marine and fisheries in Korea, as the manufacturing department of the Fisheries Training Institute in Tongyeong-si, a beautiful port city, opening the door to the marine products processing industry in Korea. After that, in 1995, it was reorganized as the Department of Seafood Science and Technology) at Gyeongsang National University, and it was newly built and relocated to an independent fish processing center equipped with the current processing plant, various cutting-edge research laboratories, and lecture rooms. And, in 1999, the graduate school, that is, the master's and doctoral courses were established, and has a history of 100 years. In the meantime, many alumni who graduated from the department have made great achievements in all walks of life, including the seafood sector, not only in Korea but also abroad. Even now, it is playing a pivotal role, raising our pride.


The department opens up a healthy and happy future for mankind through education and research for the efficient use of marine biological resources. It is the last bastion that can solve many problems such as human food, medicine, energy, and environment by using abundant marine biological resources. Let us all challenge ourselves with great dreams and courage for a healthy and happy future. Let's move forward together with the passion and love of youth.
