Institute of Engineering Research

The Engineering Research Institute was established to build a more efficient and systematic industry-academic cooperation system in the local community by utilizing the advanced technical manpower of the university.

The Engineering Research Institute was launched anew in September 2001 to utilize the advanced technological workforce of the university and establish a more efficient and systematic industry-academic cooperation system for the local community. This integration involved the Production Technology Research Institute, Automation and Computer Applied Technology Research Institute, and Advanced Material Research Institute affiliated with Gyeongsang National University and its College of Engineering. Currently, the institute operates divided into five research centers (Construction Research Center, Mechanical and Industrial Research Center, Automation and Computer Research Center, Applied Chemistry Research Center, Advanced Material Research Center) and an Industry-Academic Cooperation Center, and a Business Incubation Center.

The institute has been conducting the Industry-Academic Joint Technology Development Consortium project since 1993 and established a Business Incubation Center in March 2000, systematically contributing to regional industrial development. Not only that, it has been designated as a focus research institute from the Research Foundation due to its continuous and active support for basic research in engineering technology. It was appointed by the Ministry of Education as the executing agency for the Advanced Equipment Project for science and engineering, securing expensive testing equipment over three years. This equipment is open to the university and local industries, being widely used for research by undergraduate and graduate students of the College of Engineering.
