The role of Metals as fundamental components in industry is becoming increasingly important alongside the advancement of science and technology. Moreover, the emergence of new materials in cutting-edge fields is more urgently needed now than ever before.

Today, the role of materials as basic materials for industry is becoming increasingly important along with the development of science and technology. Furthermore, there is a pressing demand for the emergence of new materials in cutting-edge fields more than ever before.

Since its establishment, the Metal Materials Engineering major at Gyeongsang National University's College of Engineering has been consistently developing in tandem with the university's decade-long history. Most graduates are actively working in diverse sectors such as the heavy industry related to metals and materials, aluminum and copper alloy factories, the aviation industry, and the automotive industry. Some of them have continued their studies in graduate schools, playing their part in academic research areas. Moreover, the department strives to convey expertise to students through extensive exchanges with industries and research institutes, inviting experts from various fields for seminars. They are also bolstering the depth of education through on-site education such as field trips and practical sessions, and by ensuring thorough graduation thesis experiments.

The faculty of this major mainly conducts research on the development of new materials such as superheat-resistant alloys, powder metallurgy, ultra-lightweight high-strength alloys, battery materials, corrosion-resistant materials, functional materials, and energy materials.

After graduation, career paths include integrated steel mills, various metal smelting, steelmaking factories, automobile and aircraft parts and assembly factories, metal material processing assembly factories, related departments in machinery, shipbuilding, electrical, electronic, chemical, and chemical engineering factories. Other avenues are research institutes leading the development of these processes, trading companies, and studying abroad.
