Civil engineering is a discipline related to the design and construction of infrastructures such as roads, dams, bridges, and tunnels
Civil engineering is concerned with the design and construction of the societal infrastructure like roads, dams, bridges, and tunnels. Specifically, it can be divided into several branches: structural mechanics for the design of various structures, water resources engineering for the analysis of water flow and hydraulic studies, soil mechanics to research the engineering properties of soil, surveying to measure surface distances and volumes, and construction management for the scientific management of construction projects.
The Department of Civil Engineering, established in 1978, consists of 7 faculty members specialized in their respective fields, 240 undergraduate students, and over 40 master’s and doctoral students. Graduates from each program secure employment in public services, public institutions, construction companies, design firms, supervision companies, and construction-related research institutes, being cultivated as professional civil engineers.
