The system is an integral part of comprehensive construction technology for constructing facilities convenient for human life, and it is an essential field of industrial development in charge of research, design, construction, operation, and maintenance. The Department provides education in in-depth basic theories and specialized knowledge in related technical fields to train students who will lead the dynamics of industrial society as professional engineers.
The science of landscape architecture integrates science and art that encompasses theory and creation to make and cultivate beautiful, useful, and healthy land and environment, the basis of our lives. In a narrow sense, it deals with house gardens, urban plazas, and public parks, and in a broad sense, it covers extensive outdoor spaces including cities and territories in the areas of planning, design, and management.
The Department’s educational goals are to provide education in basic theories, planning, and design by way of lectures and practices to develop the abilities of the students in the areas of research and design in leading the fields of landscape and academia.
The Department concentrates on engineering-based technologies which maintain comfortable conditions in natural and living environments. Those technologies are prepared by analyzing the state of pollution, causes, and mitigation strategies for major environmental problems which are expected to be accelerated further in response to the advance of modern science and industries. Therefore, the Department defines educational goals which foster the students not only to play a leading role in solving the environmental issues, but also to contribute to the preservation and restoration of natural and living environments. This can be achieved based on the understanding of the relationship between human and environmental systems as well as of scientific knowledge and technologies used for the evaluation, planning, improvement, and pollution prevention of those environmental concerns.
The Department cultivates students to be specialized in transforming human living spaces into creative and comfortable living spaces through convergence education of materials used in indoor spaces, furniture, and interior design. They learn and acquire the knowledge required for developing, producing, and using various eco-friendly materials for living and cultural space through human-friendly design.
The Department aims at fostering students who will be able to cope with the technical and industrial changes of textiles through a new paradigm of future-oriented design education. In particular, the Department cultivates students to be designers required for the digital information age based on the convergence of design, technology, and business. After graduation, they are active as professional designers not only in textile industries, but also in other related business fields.
