About GNU
Gyeongnam’s national flagship university representing Korea
GNU is one of the top 3 universities in Korea, in terms of student population, and is the largest university in the Gyeongnam region. The colleges of GNU cover a wide range of academic disciplines. There are 20 colleges in total, including the Colleges of Humanities, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, and Education. In particular, our university has a lot of success in the disciplines of life science, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, nanotechnology, advanced materials engineering, and chemistry. We are continuing to expand our outreach and cooperation with other universities worldwide.
GNU actively participates in cooperative projects with public institutions throughout Gyeongnam. Our current partners include regional governments, and several national level industrial complexes and laboratories, including the aerospace complex in Jinju/Sacheon, the machinery complex in Changwon, the maritime plant in Tongyeong, and the nano-convergence technology lab in Miryang. Through our growing collaborative projects, GNU is rapidly making itself to become integral to the region and to Korea.
We are working to build a student-centered learning experience for our student population that will properly prepare them with skills that will be integral for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and post-Covid world. Our university is guided by the principles of trust and communication and of coexistence and cooperation. As a global institution of higher learning, we believe in the participation of every student and faculty member to pioneer and innovate new solutions for global challenges. These virtues guide our contributions to local and national development, as well as the personal development of all university members. Welcome to GNU, thank you for coming.
