Presentations on industry–academia project tasks and capacity-building networking, etc., will be conducted.
Gyeongsang National University (GNU; President Kwon Jinhoe) Graduate School Department of Management of Technology (MOT; Department Chair Jeon Jeonghwan) held the STAR-G² Mentoring Day to advance industry–academia projects on May 8–9 in the Medium Lecture Hall at the KB Insurance Injaenium Sacheon Training Center.
The event was organized to share the outcomes and current progress of the on-site problem-solving industry–academia projects being carried out by the Department of Management of Technology, and to further advance the projects and expand networking among participants. A total of 64 attendees, including current students and faculty/staff, took part in project presentations, expert mentoring, and programs for discussion and exchange among participants.
The department’s industry–academia projects are practical industry–university cooperation programs in which companies, professors, and relevant experts form teams to jointly solve challenges at corporate worksites. In particular, they aim to solve problems in the local industrial field and strengthen innovation capabilities, carrying out projects linked to Gyeongnam’s key industries such as aerospace, defense, energy, and the public sector.
Since being selected in 2020 for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy’s Industry Innovation Talent Development Support Project, the Department of Management of Technology at the Graduate School of Gyeongsang National University has operated master’s and doctoral programs since 2021. To date, approximately 240 graduate students have enrolled, and it has produced 106 master’s and doctoral graduates.
Graduates are active at Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), Korea South-East Power, Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), Doosan Enerbility, Shinsung Delta Tech, Kencoa Aerospace, and other major aerospace/defense companies in the Gyeongnam region as well as public institutions in the Innovation City, leading industrial innovation.
Jeon Jeonghwan, Chair of the Department of Management of Technology, said, “STAR-G² Mentoring Day is an occasion to share the outcomes of the industry–academia projects our current students are carrying out and to enhance the quality of the projects through exchanges with various experts,” adding, “We will continue to expand problem-solving education and industry–academia cooperation linked with local industries to cultivate practice-oriented innovative talent.”
